120 CAREGIVERS RECEIVE SKILLS TRAINING UNDER NORAD PROJECT
A total of 120 caregivers from eight communities in the Ada West District have benefited from a two-day (Monday 7th and Wednesday 9th September 2026) skills training programme under the Protecting Children at Risk of Losing Parental Care (NORAD) Project.

The project, funded by Norway, is implemented by SOS Children’s Villages Ghana through Volta Resilient Foundation (VRF), in collaboration with the Ada West District Assembly through the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development.

The training was held at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Afiadenyigba, on Day One and at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Addokope, on Day Two.
Participants were drawn from Englesi-Kenya, Dogobom, Aditcherekope, Afiadenyigba, Nuhalenya, Lohour, Hwakpo and Addokope.

As part of the practical skills development, participants were trained in the preparation and production of meat pies and shortbread biscuits, equipping them with skills that could support income-generating activities and improve household livelihoods.
The training was supported by the Executive Director of VRF and his staff, resource persons, the Honourable Assembly Member for Afiadenyigba Electoral Area and staff of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the economic capacity of caregivers and promote the wellbeing and protection of children within vulnerable households.
