PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IN SEGE RECEIVE SUPPORT FROMĀ 3% DISTRICT ASSEMBLY COMMON FUND (DACF) ALLOCATION
The Ada West District Assembly disbursed items to 63 persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Sege. The items included deep freezers, wheelchairs, laptops, charcoal, provision, tarpaulin, corn mill motor and cash.

The event aimed to support disabled persons in the district, with beneficiaries categorised into education, health, and business support.

District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Modjifa Tanihu J.J.F Mills – Nkrumah encouraged beneficiaries to embrace their disabilities and utilise the items effectively, noting that some beneficiaries from the previous year, Philip Teye Obour and Abigail Agbenorsi, had been re-selected as beneficiaries, due to their effective usage of previous items received.

The chairman of the programme, Hon. Ernest Kugblenu urged beneficiaries to make good use of the items, emphasising that those receiving deep freezers should not use “lack of electricity” as an excuse, as everything procured was based on their requests.

The District Social Welfare and Community Development Officer, Mr. Philip Dotse, noted that language has been a major challenge between them and their clients. He appealed to beneficiaries to be patient when calling the office, noting that the local language, Dangme is quite a challenge for majority of the staff of the Department. However, they have made provisions for translations to foster effective communication.

Mr. Gabriel Tetteh, staff of the Department thanked the government and the DCE as well for putting smiles on their faces before the yuletide.
