AWDA INSPECTS PROJECTS AND HANDS OVER SITE FOR 24HR MARKET PROJECT
The Ada West District Assembly (AWDA) on Wednesday, 3rd June 2026 inspected three (3) projects at the Ada Senior High Technical School, Sege.

The projects inspected were construction of ten (10) seater toilet facility each for boys and girls learners and also a Ghana Educational Trust Fund (GETFUND) project of twenty-four (24) Unit Classroom Block. The visitation to the GETFUND project site was occasioned by intelligence earlier received by management that ownership was being claimed by a third party of the land in question for the project, situated on the school campus, and already earmarked and cleared for the construction of the 24-Unit Classroom Block. The Ada West District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Modjifa Tanihu J.J.F. Mills-Nkrumah however indicated that he had responded to the said ownership claim and stressed that the said claim cannot be an impediment for the construction of the classroom block which the school and the community earnestly yearn for.

The management of the AWDA led by the DCE on same day also inspected and officially handed over the site for the construction of 24HR market project to the Architect of the project, Lancelot W-Hanson who in turn handed over the site plan to the contractor, LORDIA CONSTRUCTS. The 24HR Market is a policy by the H.E John Dramani Mahama’s government to ensure that every District has a unique market dubbed a 24HR economy market model and all districts are expected to commit 25% of their District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) every quarter to the actualization of the project. The market according to government is “an economic framework where businesses, services, and trading hubs operate continuously around the clock, usually structured in three 8-hour shifts, and the goal is to maximize factor utilization, decongest daytime trading spaces, increase productivity, and generate mass employment”.

Upon close inspection of the land earmarked for the 24Hr market project and the site plan, Architect Lancelot W-Hanson said that he did not see any problem with the site and urged the contractor to ensure that the project is delivered within the scheduled time of thirty (30) months.

The DCE, Hon. Modjifa Tanihu J.J.F. Mills-Nkrumah appealed to the contractor of the 24HR market project to consider employing some of the local people as labour during the construction of the project and as well consider patronizing the Assembly’s District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) machines, if need be, at relatively cheaper rate. The contractor in response said she had no problem with that but she would not condone laxity from those who may be engaged either as direct labour or operators of the said DRIP machines.

The contractor therefore pledged the company’s commitment to deliver the project on record time and also assured management of value for money in executing the project.
