COMMUNITY WATER AND SANITATION AGENCY DISCUSS WATER SUPPLY PROGRESS AND CHALLENGES WITH ADA WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

On 6th August 2025, officials from the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) paid a courtesy call to the Ada West District Chief Executive to brief the District Chief Executive on the agency’s operations and challenges within the district. The meeting was held at the Assembly’s Conference Room.

The Regional Director for Community Water and Sanitation Agency, Mr Godwin Kotoku, introduced himself and his team to the DCE and some heads of departments present at the meeting. He provided an overview of the agency’s activities in relation to the three (3) District Water Supply Scheme.

In his presentation, Mr Godwin Kotoku outlined the agency’s recent achievements at the headwork, including the procurement and installation of a 2000m3 per day package treatment unit aimed at boosting water production. He also reported the completion of a project involving the expansion of approximately 18 kilometres of high density polyethylene (HDPE) transmission lines, enabling efficient water supply delivery to coastal communities and part of Sege.

He placed significant emphasis on the current water rationing schedule within the scheme, noting that only two out of eight high tanks are receiving continuous pumping. According to him, water is supplied to Dawa and its environs from Thursday to Sunday, Tsopoli from Sunday to Tuesday, and Nakomkope town with its surroundings from Tuesday to Thursday.

Mr Kotoku further addressed challenges hindering effective water supply in the district, such as vandalism, illegal connections, and the use of pumps by certain individuals on the distribution lines.

In response, the DCE pledged the Assembly’s support in addressing these challenges, assuring that the issues would be tackled with in collaboration with Assembly Members. CWSA officials expressed their appreciation to the DCE and the Assembly for their constant support and hospitability.
