A TRIBUTE TO OUR FALLEN HEROES
Wednesday, 6th August 2025, will forever be remembered as a dark and painful day in the history of Ghana and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). On this fateful day, our nation suffered the irreplaceable loss— of remarkable individuals whose absence will be deeply felt and whose contributions will be difficult to replace.
On behalf of the people of Ada West District, our Member of Parliament Hon. Daniel Keshi Bessey, and the entire district, I extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and Ghana as a whole. To the NDC family, this tragedy is a poignant reminder that we are not isolated in our struggles. Let us pause, reflect, unite, and stand firmly behind His Excellency President Mahama in the collective effort to rebuild our beloved country.
The late Honourable Minister for Defense and the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation were not only distinguished public servants but also my schoolmates. We shared a journey through student politics and later, national leadership. Even then, they stood out — full of wisdom, knowledge, and a deep sense of purpose. They were among the brightest minds of our generation. Never did I imagine that decades later, we would once again find ourselves on the same path under the NDC, only to part ways so suddenly.
I also had the honour of meeting the late Dr. Sarpong in 2010 during the funeral of Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye’s mother at Ada Foah. Since then, we maintained occasional communication. He, too, was a remarkable man.
We also honour the three gallant soldiers who also tragically lost their lives in the line of duty. These eight, are true heroes of Ghana, and their sacrifices must never be forgotten.
Their untimely demise — at a critical time when His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama is resolutely, committed to resetting the direction of our country — is not just a loss to their families or the NDC, but a blow to the entire nation.
May the souls of our departed comrades rest in perfect peace.
May God bless our homeland Ghana.
Hon. ModjifaTanihu Jerry John Foreigner Nkrumah-Mills
District Chief Executive, Ada West.
