DCE TOURS BECE CENTERS TO ENCOURAGE CANDIDATES
The Ada West District Chief Executive, Hon. Modijifa Tanihu J.J.F Mills-Nkrumah has encouraged the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the district to be confident in their abilities and approach the examination questions with calmness and determination. He advised them to carefully read and understand the questions before attempting to answer.
He, together with the District Director of Education, Dr Steven Authur, and the District Coordinating Director, Mr Kwadjo Bour Gyamfi interacted with the candidates in the early hours of Wednesday morning ahead of the first paper. They encouraged them to trust their fervent preparations towards this all-important examination.
The team offered moral support and encouragement to the candidates to demonstrate the district’s commitment to their success. They advised them to eschew all forms of examination malpractices and maintain their integrity throughout the five-day examination process.
Preceding the examination, the Member of Parliament (MP) Hon. Daniel Keshie Bessey donated Mathematical sets to all candidates as his commitment to ensuring success among the candidates. The officials took the opportunity to thank the MP for this timely provision.
According to the District Director of Education, this gesture was greatly appreciated, as it significantly reduced the financial burden on parents and ensured that students were adequately equipped for the exams.
The district had nine centres for the examination. The team first visited the Sege Community Junior High School No. 1. This centre had a total number of 383 candidates present, comprising of 197 boys and 186 girls from 13 schools within the district. Among these schools, seven (7) were public schools and six (6) were private schools.
At this centre, there were no records of absentees nor pregnant candidates. The team expressed their satisfaction with the high turnout and preparedness of both the candidates and the examination officials.
The teamed visited a second centre at Koluedor D/A Junior High School. A total number of 313 candidates were present There were 160 boys and 153 girls from eight (8) different schools across the district. Among these, seven (7) were public school and 1 private school.
At the Koluedor centre, there were 3 pregnant candidates and one absentee. This absentee had reportedly dropped out of school after registration. Despite this, the examination process was reported to be running smoothly.
The visit was successful and served its intended purpose of encouraging the candidates. The team expressed hope for excellent performance by the candidates and commended the teachers and invigilators for their dedication and hard work.
