Ada West District Assembly Empowers 150 Youth and Women in Skills Training

ADA WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY EMPOWERS 150 YOUTH AND WOMEN IN SKILLS TRAINING

The Ada West District Assembly, through the Community Development Unit of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, in collaboration with Emerge New Woman, has successfully organised a three-day skills training programme from 9th – 11th October 2025 for 150 youths and women across the district various vocational skills to promote self-reliance and local enterprise.

The training, aimed at promoting self-reliance and entrepreneurship, provided participants with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in various vocational skills. In addition to the practical sessions, participants were also taken through the essence of marketing, emphasising how to attract and retain customers to sustain their small businesses.

The District Coordinating Director, together with the Assistant Director who also serves as the Administrator for the Sege Area Council, graced the occasion and commended participants for their enthusiasm and active participation throughout the training.

Training details

Day 1 – Ada West District Assembly Hall

Module: Make-up

  • Day make-up
  • Bridal make-up
  • Eye lashes fixing

Day 2 – Divine Healers Church, Lolonya

Module: Pastries

  • Chip
  • Doughnut
  • Coconut coated biscuits (Polo)

 

Day 3 – Church of Pentecost, Lolonya

Modules:

  • Ice cream preparation
  • Production of liquid soap, after-wash, and detergent (Parazo)

In addition, 15 trainees were presented with make-up packages worth GHS 550.00 each for their punctuality and outstanding performance during the sessions.

At the end of the programme, participants were presented with Certificates of Participation in recognition of their commitment and successful completion of the training.

The District, together with its partners, will continue to monitor the progress of all participants, while some participants have been identified for further future support to help them establish their small enterprises.

This initiative forms part of the Ada West District Assembly’s continuous efforts to empower women and youth, enhance livelihoods, and promote local economic development across the district.
