The budget covered a wide range of development, spanning from healthcare, education, water and sanitation to flagship programmes. Pertinent amongst them were:

Flagship Projects: GHC8.1 million (25% of budget) for projects like the Sege 24-hour economic market

Health: GHC3.7 million for CHPS compounds, health Centre renovations, and incinerators

Education: GHC2.6 million for classroom blocks, KG blocks, and school furniture.

Some key Initiatives to propel revenue and spur on development were outlined. They included; Establishment of a permanent market management committee to revitalize the Sege Market and Development Support Fund for the Hon. Assembly Members.

Hon. Tanihu emphasized prioritizing existing projects and equitable distribution across electoral areas, urging stakeholders to support its implementation for transparency and cost-effectiveness.

Participants at the meeting were all the Hon. Assembly Members, staff of the assembly, the heads of the security services in the district, the traditional & opinion leaders, market representatives, media and the general public.

The Assembly Members expressed their delight over the support fund as well as the upward adjustment of their sitting and transport allowances for the ensuing year

The Hon. Members were also pleased with the budgetary allocations for the legacy projects to be completed for the people. They noted that subsequent governments had abandoned several developmental projects to deteriorate. Therefore, instead of starting new projects the assembly should be committed to completing existing developmental structures.

The DCE also called on assembly members to prioritize unity and accountability in driving development across the district. He emphasized the need for renewed efforts in youth employment, infrastructure development, and revenue mobilization.

Hon. Mills-Nkrumah stressed that the people expect results, not excuses, and urged assembly members to work together to make Ada West a model district known for innovation, unity, and development.

In a related development, staff (CLOGSAG Ladies wing) and Hon. Members of the assembly were educated and screened on breast cancer. The health facilitators from the Sege Health directorate entreated participants to regularly screen their breast and all other related cancers: for early detection and management. This they said increases a higher survival rate. More importantly cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence. Encouraged all to add it to their regular routine health check-ups to save lives.

The various committees and sub-committees took turns to present their recommendations to the General Assembly for consideration and action.

The meeting took place at the District Assembly’s Hall.
