ADA WEST DCE INSPECTS AND COMMISSIONS PROJECTS
As part of his planned Community engagement and itinerary to ensure value for money assurance in the execution of projects awarded by the Ada West District Assembly, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Modjifa Tanihu J.J.F. Mills-Nkrumah on Tuesday, 24th March 2026 inspected five projects; commissioned two of the inspected projects, and officially handed over a renovated Health Center to the Ada West District Health Directorate.

The projects were two incinerators; one each at Sege polyclinic and Anyamam Health Centre, renovated Health Center at Bonikope which was officially handed over, and the other two; one of which completed but left with labeling and mounting of poly tanks for commissioning, are CHIPS compounds located at Abuanorkope in the Lolonya Electoral Area and Wokumagbe in the Wokumagbe Electoral Area.

In commissioning the incinerators, the DCE, Hon. Modjifa Tanihu indicated that it is a social responsibility for the Assembly to ensure environmental cleanliness and sanitation in the promotion of health delivery and therefore the need to ensure that health facilities in the Ada West District have proper means of disposing their waste materials especially those that were hazardous in nature. The Ada West District Health Director, Dr. Maxwell Onassis Fiadjor and Mr. Bright Obeng Amoako who represented the Regional Health Director underscored the critical need for proper waste management at the Health facilities since lack of same could lead to outbreak of diseases and the consequences thereof, and thanked the Assembly for the project but appealed for more incinerators so that all health facilities in the district can have one.

The Presiding Member (PM) for the Ada West Assembly, Hon. Ngunekpeku Lawrence Kartey who is also the Assembly member for the Bonikope Electoral Area, in his remarks to commend the Assembly for renovating the Bonikope Health Centre, appealed to the Assembly to also construct incinerator for the facility since the facility is patronized by good number of clients. Nene Kwesi Dameh, a traditional leader for the area also in commending the Ada West Assembly recounted the commitment and professionalism displayed by the staff of the Bonikope Health Centre over the period and appealed to the DCE to consider putting the security officer of the facility on the District Assembly’s Internally Generated Fund (IGF) since the security officer is being paid from the Health facility’s IGF but the facility struggles to raise enough IGF and therefore finds it difficult to pay the security officer. Nene Dameh also appealed to the Assembly to consider providing a fence wall to ensure security of the facility and workers.

In his remarks to officially handover the keys of the renovated Bonikope Health Centre to the District Health Director, the DCE recounted the motivation to undertake the said renovation project when he said, that the facility and its staff were highly spoken of by those who patronized the facility but when he had the opportunity to commission the facility’s toilet he realized that the health facility which was being spoken of highly was in a very deplorable condition with the toilet looking better than the Health Centre and hence the decision for the renovation. The DCE therefore said that he was happy that the face-lifting of the facility as being handed over today would motivate the staff of the facility to improve upon doing what they were well noted for. The DCE, Hon. Modjifa Tanihu and the District Coordinator (DCD), Mr. Gordon Walter Doe therefore admonished all stakeholders especially the community to ensure the proper maintenance of the facility.

The beneficiary communities Assembly members namely; Hon. Lawrence N. Katey, Hon. Ahukessey Rockson, Hon. Philip Tettey Sai, Hon. Francis Tetteh Alimo and Ernest Kugblenu were respectively present at their communities. The DCE was also accompanied by the DCD, Heads of Departments and some supporting staff of the Ada West District Assembly.
