ADA WEST BENEFITS FROM NATIONWIDE SOLAR STREETLIGHT PROJECT

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition in collaboration with the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council led by the Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Ocloo in November 2025 launched street lighting rehabilitation and installation across the districts in the region.

The project which is nationwide in character and also part of the 24hr economy policy to ensure productivity beyond daylight according to Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr. Richard Gyan-Mensah was to install 23,500 all-in-one solar streetlights, covering a 700-kilometer stretch of roads to safeguard safe nighttime activities and to boost economy growth, stressed the Deputy Minister.

Few months after the launch, the Ada West District received as its share of the nationwide project 215 of all-in-one solar Streetlight (and may be receiving more) to be installed in the District capital where the 24hr Economy Market is to be sited.

The contractor is currently on site working and according to the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ada West, Hon. Modjifa Tanihu J.J.F Mills-Nkrumah, the solar Streetlights are going to be distributed on the following streets in the Ada West District capital, Sege;

Battor-Sege Road (46), Sege-Accra Aflao Road (62), Sege-Nakomkope Road (107).
